I ran through the pages in minutes and by the time I got to the last page I was fuming.

Just as I finished and was about to read it over to make sure I didn’t leave anything out, Aisha came barging into my room yelling, “Auntie Tasha! Kareem bust his head. He’s bleeding. Aunt Marva said come here. You might have to take him to get stitches.” She was sweating and all out of breath.

“What?” I jumped up and hauled ass downstairs to check on my son.
